(no subject)
So today was Addys first day of Junior Kindergarden. Ice had her home with me for the past 2 weeks for a mini 'summer vacation' seeing as she has been going to daycare everyday all day for over a year. I figured she deserved a break before she started JK all day everyday as well. She was also pretty sick of daycare so it was great timing. We did a mini orientation back in June at her new school. She got to see the JK classrooms, meet all te teachers and ECE's and take a bus ride around the block. That day went well but it was so long ago I don't think she remembered it.
So anyways I spent most the day yesterday talking to her about how things were going to work and how she could expect her day to go. She was really hot and cold about it. One minute excited, the next dreading it. So I really didn't know what to expect this morning. Tom arranged to go in late this morning so he could be here for her first day. Yesterday we packed her back pack and picked out her clothes and then last night she helped make her lunch and had a tub.
She was a little hard to wake up this morning but once she was, things were good. She for dressed, and it was cold, she she put up a bit of a fuss about having to wear tights under her skirt, bur finally agreed. She had her breakfast and barely fussed about having her hair done (which was a MIRACLE). She was ready early so we waited outside in the cold for the bus for almost half an hour. Once the bus got here, she was really food about getting on! She hesitated at the top of the stairs once she saw all the other kids, but I helped her find a seat to herself and get seated, gave her a kiss and got off quickly. And that was it! She waved to mommy and daddy as she bus drove away!
I didn't shed a tear, but I was pretty sad and emotional to see my one and only baby be so grown up and go off to school. I was waiting for her when she came got off after school ad she was all smiles! She had a great day with her teacher and had to use the extra shirt I sent in her backpack because she got soaked at the water table! I spend 45 minutes reading and filling out all the stuff that had come home after school and she had told me all about her day. I'm glad she enjoyed it and I think she is excited to go back on Friday! Te other half of the new class goes tomorrow and then on Friday they all go and then everyday from then on.
I can't believe I'm going to say this but there is a PTA meeting next Monday and I think I might get involved. I only have one daughter and her school and education is very very important to me and the more I can do the better! Never thought I'd see the day that I was a PTA parent lol!
