For me, a huge part of the enjoyment is the deep emotional impact I get out of the songs, and that didn't change (and was enhanced) by the live performance. It was a very small add hock theatre, so the audience was about 20 feet away from the players and became part of the show in a couple places as well.

Both actors for Captain Hammer and Dr Horrible were fairly close in body type and set to the originals and did a stand up job of playing the emotions of the roles well. This Hammer was just as much of an ass.

Part of the adaptation was having to deal with the fast cuts and transitions of the web show, which was done usually by inserting songs from the "commentary the musical" bonus track off the dvd. This pretty much doubled the show length, and gave a nice chance for just about every cast member to get a solo song at one point or another. It was a nice touch, and a really good cast for so small a production. Everyone was in very good pitch, which definitely is important.

The play didn't feel like just a quick copy of the source, the production crew obviously took some serious time and effort to make the translation work well as a living breathing musical play but also without changing too far as to not be directly connected back to the original.

And example and an in joke too was NPH's picture in the background when the newscasters did there "...Next up, who's gay" line, tying back to both the original actor and the reason the line was in the original show. (his being outed by the news)
