so, i've been thinking about the activity checks, and i feel like maybe we could all benefit from a little change. so, here are my thoughts, and let me know what you guys think.
at the moment, journal entries only count for the one posting, no matter what the entry is like, even if you go into a run of hundreds of comments. i think we should change that. get a decent run of comments going and i think it should count for anyone in the comments. the flip side of that will be, if an entry is very sparse, even if you're the one posting, it will not count.
easier to show than to tell.
this entry is massive, and the new rules would qualify both Bret and Grace for the activity check, not just Grace.
Now the flip side -
this one wouldn't be enough to qualify either Bonnie or Min, because it's so short.
which is not to say that all entries with a small number of comments won't count. good example is
this post, which would have qualified even if no one had responded. i tried to actually find one with no replies, but it was really difficult - lol.
also, logs will require more than one comment to count for an activity check (again, unless the one comment is very detailed). i know i'm guilty of that, too.
basically, i'm thinking to kind of focus it more on the interaction and less on the fulfilling specific requirements. that make sense? it seems to be that more people will benefit from this new setup than will suffer from it, but i'd like to know what your opinions are.
