Slipping. Thin, a flash, like a fish skimming through water. Twisting along currents. She (he) slithers sideways through the world. Rock like sand underneath her (his) palm (mind). Water like wisps of cloud. Air like nothing, nothing at all ( Read more... )

The rain was nice to watch and listen to, even Skyler could admit that much. He was't sure he'd known the sound of rain before now. But it actually raining on was another matter entirely. It was, well wet, but not harmful to him.

He'd been out getting to know the area when the rain arrived and saw no reason to go in now just because of a little wet.

He didn't know about the memorial there, or the bubble that had been there...but he saw the girl and being one such as hmself, he felt compelled to go see who she was and if she was alright. "Um, exscuse me," he said softly, walking over to stop right in front of her. "Are you okay here by yourself?"

The irony of a tiny, hapless furry thing asking her that was a little too much for her, and she laughed. Not an easy, natural laugh, but a blurted, startled one.

"Okay," she says, "yeah, I'm fine. Here, come sit with me," and she settled down, in the mud, completely ignoring the stain on the silk she's wearing. "Watch the plants grow."

Skyler shrugged mentally before having a seat next to her. As far as he knew, plants didn't grow that fast, but then again, he didn't know a whole lot about them. It never really occured to him to be wary of her, just like he hadn't had any suspicions about Demyx. "So what's your name?"

His tail was till burning brightly, steaming due to the rain hitting it, but the flame wasn't burning anything. Skyler chalked that up to the fact that if it did then there'd be a whole lot more dangerous fires in the world.

In fact, the plants were growing. Quite fast. A field that was mud and dead grass was blooming with snow flowers, little white blossoms.

What was her name.

"Elimyr," she told him. Not quite a lie.

Skyler watched, so completely absorbed in what was happening that he almost didn't hear her. It was a beautiful sight after all. "My name's Skyler," he said, finally looking at her again.

She extended a hand, drawing her knees up to her chest. It made her look younger.

"Nice to meet you, Skyler," she said, and she laughed, a little.

Skyler did wonder how old she was. He wasn't quite an adult, but she wasn't a little kid...just seemed younger than him. but sitting out here, despite the wetness, was proving to be sort of calming.

"It's nice to meet you too," he said, extending his much smaller hand to shake hers.

She sat there in silence, for a long time, just watching the flowers grow.

"I'm a druid," she told Skyler, abruptly. "I've killed a lot of people."

Whatever Skyler might have thought she was going to say, that definitely was not it. The first thing, about the druid, didn'r mean much to him. The comment about her killing caused him to fix her a curious stare. Finally he asked the only thing he could. "Why?"

"I wanted to," she told him.

Was it awful that she couldn't think of any better reason than that? She'd wanted to. She'd done whatever she wanted, that was the way it worked.

Skyler didn't understand this in the slightest. Why would anyone want to inflict pain on others was truly beyond him. "Did someone hurt you first?"

"I guess they did," said Elimyr. "But not the same people."

"Maybe those people made you think that way about most people," Skyler suggested. It was his only guess. Not that that made what she did okay. "Do you still want to?"

She shrugged. "No," she said, finally, and she moved to her feet.

"All right," she said. "I'm going to go."

And she winked out of existence, right there in front of him.
