How long can a man lose [CLOSED]

Aug 17, 2009 17:14

Who: Derek Rayne, Mars
What: Nightmares, possibly cuddling, some really screwed-up people.
Where: Rayne's room, the King's Inn
When: Sunday night

It's not even a specific dream, that he has. Nothing concrete, no established scenario that he returns to, again and again. Instead, his dreams are like anyone else's, random and abstract, wandering from one theme to the next. And often he forgets them when he awakens.

But while he's in that dream, no matter what the scenario, he starts having trouble breathing.

At first it's just a little bit of a rasp, but then it starts to hurt, in the strange, not-actually-hurting way that dreams have. Then he'll search for the gas, because he knows it's the gas, it has to be the gas. The gas that's entering the base, the gas that's about to kill them all because they all died and he remembers it, he remembers every second of it...

And that's when he starts to get afraid.

And so Rayne struggles, against the creeping white mist, fighting for every breath. Gasping choked and broken -- and it doesn't even matter that Toridia is long gone, because, in his mind, he's always there.

mars, derek rayne
