Summer is pretty much non-existent in Ottawa this year, most weekends have been wet leaving little time to play in the sunshine... However I have been able to squeeze in a few moments of summer here and there:

July 18th - I spent the afternoon and late into the evening at a fun housewarming bbq for a friend of mine in Vankleek Hill. The housewarming was an informal get together to meet the neighbours and see some old friends as my friend and his brother moved back from the Toronto area in March. The house is amazing, they've turned it into a great place that suits them really well.

Vankleek Hill is a little town between Ottawa and Montreal, I moved there when I was 14 and spent my teen years growing up in this small rural farming town. As a young adult, all I wanted was to leave for the big city and start my own adventures but every time I return, I realize that it was a great, safe place to raise kids and enjoy everyday life.

I have been friends with this guy since grade eight and his little sister has been friends with my little sister just as long. It's so good to reconnect with him and his family. I am always so shy when it comes to group gatherings, but he always goes out of his way to make me feel like a part of their family, so it is hard to not be comfortable.

It doesn't matter how much time has passed, life goes on, but our friendship, the easiness we have with each other is always there. So thank you dear friend for a great day and some new memories of that great friendship.

Welcome back home :)

I missed you my friend, so glad things are going so well for you...

Can't wait for more good times to share!

A few pictures from the day:

Fourwheeling show offs - my friend's brother and his friends joyriding in the back of the house

My friend's sister's son and a friend having some fun on the trampoline

Bonfire at the end of a great night.

Warming our butts by the fire as it was damp from a little bit of rain in the afternoon.
