Hi there! It's been forever!
It's been ages since I've posted, hasn't it? I think it's time to remedy that.
Things have been pretty good for me, lately. I haven't been on Twitter or LJ pretty much in forever. The trips around the world kind of killed my regular updating and I've gotten out of the habit. I should at least try to pick up my lj again, as I was really good about it for a while.
I'm in my last semester of undergrad, and I just spent my Spring Break frantically working on my thesis. It's currently at 41 pages and with any luck I'll actually write a conclusion and wrap this draft up tonight to send it to my adviser. Ironically enough, I wrote about Twitter (slang and text speak online), but still didn't get back into the habit of updating mine ^_^;;
Other than being extremely busy with classes and whatnot (which is surprising enough considering I'm only taking 3 classes outside of my thesis), I don't have too much going on. I'm in a pretty good place right now. Jonathan and I have been dating for 14 months and living together for 10. We have our ups and downs but it's a pretty good thing, I have to say.
My parents took it really well when I clarified that Jonathan and I were moving in together because we were dating. They met Jonathan on my birthday. That was a fun evening. Mom was so nervous she drank three long-islands. She had enough that she was drunk-texting one of my sisters while showing Jonathan her phone. Then he met most of my mother's side of the family at Christmas. No issues there, either.
I'm currently waiting to hear back from the JET program (Japan Exchange and Teaching). I applied for a year-long program teaching English to Japanese students back in November, and interviewed in Houston on Feb 25th. I'm supposed to hear back "in the first two weeks of April" but I don't know if that will be delayed because of the current crisis in Japan. I know I'm not there #1 priority right now :/ With any luck, that's what I'll be doing next year.
If I don't get to go to Japan, I'll probably spend a year here working and doing some graduate studies in the French department here at the U of A. Eventually, I'm hoping to go to grad school for Linguistics, but that'll have to wait. I was too busy to do much research/applying to stuff this year. I'll reapply for JET again next year if I don't make it, too.
I think that's a pretty good summation of my life in general right now. I can't complain about much other than being busy, and that's all my fault, too. I didn't even start researching until late January and I only started writing this month, so no one to blame but me (not that there would be anyone else to blame if I had started earlier ^_^)
Originally, I was just going to send this to Tab because she messaged me mentioning that she hadn't seen me on lj for a while, but it grew enough to merit its own post, so that's what I'll do.
