So my meeting last night with my college professor was very fruitful in information and advice. It turns out it would be impossible for someone from a small private college like myself, without and ungraduate degree in philosophy, to get into a PhD program that would be worth my time or money. He suggested going to a two year terminal MA program, where essentiall they work to get you ready to get into the best PhD program possible, and are ranked based off of their placement into the best programs.
He offered me help in perparing my writing statement, choosing the school that have staff that could give me the best reccomendations for the kind of program I would be interested, writing me a recomendation for applications, and advice on how to write my personal statement. He also told me the scores I would need on the GRE to get into the best schools, and that he thought I would be a perfect applicant for these programs, that coming out of them I could be applying to and excepted at the best Philosophy PhD programs in the country (Princeton, Berklee, Harvard, & Stanford). I am really excited, I started going through my GRE study book last night, today I am going to start their online program and research the different schools and programs, start gathering materials for my writing sample so I can shorten up my thesis and get it to Dr. M so he can help me pick out the best sections to include, and to get contacting other teachers to submit recomendations for me.
This is all probably going to be a good amount of work, but I am ready for it :0)
