Week 33 - Tuesday evening, Khimaris' room

Mar 31, 2005 00:46

Dressed in his (cough) best tattered lace and tail-coat, Vincent knocks upon Khimaris' door. He then steps back three paces, and with hands folded behind his back, awaits a response. After all.... what is such an endeavor without noble backing?

Khimaris opens the door, releasing a plume of scented smoke. She fans it away, smiling faintly, and motions Vincent inside--making quite sure to smudge the chalk circle marked out carefully upon the floor. Her personal demon, Simper, sits at the center of it, contemplating his navel.

"Forgive how long I took to answer. We were practising."

Vincent raises his eyebrow. "No forgiveness is necessary. It is, after all, your abode, Lady Khimaris."

Hands behind his back, he takes a moment to silently absorb his surroundings. If he seems at all disturbed by what she is practising, he doesn't show it.

"Thank you for receiving me, Lady Khimaris. The matter I wish to converse with you upon is one of an... unusual... nature. Now then, I can proceed by the long, twisting route that will give greater detail in the explanation, or I can cut through to the heart of the matter and rexpose the essence of what lies within. Which might you prefer?"

Her lips purse, holding back a laugh. "Sir, you use my greatest weakness against me! A conversation of a most unusual nature, you say, and then ask the Eiluned if she wishes to take the leisurely path or the direct route. By all means--jump in with both feet."

"To the point, then," he affirms. "Would you be interested in posing for a series of photographs in a variety of positions, singular and with others? Friend Xandros has hit upon an idea involving the internet and my meager skills with the camera. While the subject matter to be displayed may well be considered mature in the sense of being sensual or even erotic, I can assure you that it will not be either pornographic or illegal. Anything else that is captured by the lens, of course, would remain private."

Vincent leaves the last sentence to hang in the air for a moment before continuing. "Furthermore, this venture would be divided into two parts. One would display ourselves in our mortal seemings. The other, touted as being computer enhanced imagery, our true natures would promote."

Khimaris does not answer for some time. When she does, she makes no argument against the age of some of the participants, or even their dual natures.

"Before I say yes or no, I ask for your advice. You have, after all, a shrewd mind. There was, most recently in fact, a severe leak of information concerning the relationship of two of our peers. What if infomation concerning this pet project were also to be leaked? Would the teaching body be as understanding? What would it do to our grades--our careers? There will be life after Rowan." She grins briefly, though there is little warmth in it. "Of a sort."

Vincent gives a vague wave of his hand. "The incident you refer to was mildly interesting, yet not so uncommon as to truly make for a tale worth telling. This venture? Well, we hardly expect to keep it much of a secret. Finding models would be difficult otherwise. And my own part in this, other than the practice of my own art, is more concerned with the inspiration of mortal viewers. Presented as mere artwork, our images may well stir the imaginations of our admirers without violating the Right of Ignorance."

He gives the slightest of sighs. "Will there be opposition? Will there be those who claim we endanger our existance by so blatantly displaying the truth? Of course. And that may affect us later in life. No small thing, I agree. Each of us must choose between playing it safe and taking action, either choice having its rewards and detractions, in both the short and the long terms."

Bold as the brass on a casket, he stares her straight in the eyes. "But which would be more interesting?"

"Posing in my nickers with stunning young people, of course. Tastefully," she adds, grinning. "But you make good points. It must be a manner of complete class, or I can't be a part of it, given my position. And class, sadly, requires funds. So I have a question for you, Vincent. Can you treat me in the style with which I am accustomed?"

In the same dead voice, he continues. "For the discussion of reimbursement, I direct your attention to Master Xandros. Should you desire payment in some form other than that of material gain, I am sure some accomidation may be reached."

"As for your treatment..." He purses his lips. "If you truly wish me to treat with you in the manner to which you have been exposed in the past, I shall do so. Rather, I would treat you as a friend and a fellow artist."

Vincent does not expond further on that last statement, but turns to regard Simper. "And you? Might you be interested in posing as well?"

"How I've been treated in the past? Vincent, if you're still here in the morning, that would be a great improvement." Her tone is bitter, not a surprise considering how scarce at least two of her lovers have been around campus. Of course, perhaps that is what you get for having more than one lover...

She reaches down to skritch her chimera's head. He looks up at her, grinning and nodding. "By way of treatment, I meant no shoddy props. I don't want a fake tree falling on Simper's head. Or mine, for that matter."

Vincent purses his lips. "I would far prefer everything be as natural as possible. Displaying faux articles would make for false work." It seems that Vincent considers Simper as being 'natural.'

"In regards to friendship... You will forgive me if I persume to have some insight on the situation?" The Sluagh gives the slightest of sighs. "I would counsel patience in terms of recent events. Mind the changes your companions are currently facing. To some degree, they are lost in a new land, and time for adjustment must be allowed."

Khim nods, for an instant her eyes far away. "Or, conversely, fake articles might make us look all the more real. But the artist himself must have first and final say. As for the friendship... were I allowed to visit that new land occasionally, I might be less bereft. Still, I am certain I shall see it eventually, and in the meantime you will keep me entertained!" She raises a brow, an odd smile forming. "Do you plan to pose as well, Vincent? You certainly could turn a head or two."

"To be frank, Lady Khimaris, I would present yourself to your beloved companions. Granted, Miss Kali seem rather pre-occupied with exploring her new paradigm and may be difficult to track done. Master Hob, so I have been told, is most often to be found near the water's edge and does not seem to be going out of his way to remain hidden from anyone."

Vincent's lips give the slightest of twitches. "And yours is a situation I can well empathize with. Malinda has been most involved with her coursework, leaving little time of late for socialization or courting. Of course, I have waited some two hundred years to see her again, and have learned something of patience."

"As for being on the other side of the lens? I would need some... incentive... to give it serious consideration."

Khim raises a brow. Now this--this is far tastier than dealing with her love life.

The corner of her mouth twitches in a barely restrained smile. "Vincent, if you hadn't mentioned Malinda in nearly the same breath, I might have made several... suggestions for your incentives."

"Suggestions are just that, are they not? They bare no weight save they are acted upon." His head tilts to one side, his neck bent in such a fashion as to be only slightly disturbing. "Allow your mind to ponder such suggestions, then, if nothing else than to ease your worries in regards to other matters."
