Malinda is left standing beside Vincent, slightly slack-jawed. She turns to him, opens her mouth, decides against speaking. Instead she leans up and kisses him lightly on the cheek. "You didn't have to do that, you know. But I'll admit I'm glad you did...he makes me a little nervous. Always eying you as though he's going to snatch you up at any moment and whisk you away!" Her tone is deliberately light but she's not smiling, not truly, at any rate. In fact, she actually looks slightly worried.
He tenderly reaches up with the fingers of his one hand and strokes the soft skin of her cheek. "Xandros is a good friend, I truly believe that, beloved. He wishes nothing but the best for us. Perhaps it is simply that the inclusion of Kithain into his world view is but recent, and so it may well appear at times that he seeks for some anchor. As of yet, I have seen nothing of malicious intent about him or his actions."
"You... you are truly concerned, though." Vincent's words seem to be more statement than question.
Malinda gives a little laugh, shakes her head slightly. "Nothing malicious, not at all! Oh, I must be more careful with my phrasing, mustn't I..." She smiles, patiently. "What I meant to say is that he's attracted to you. And he's a satyr. And a boy. And...yeah. That's a hell of a lot of competition, y'know? We...haven't really talked about anything of that nature, I guess but I just feel like he's waiting for the right time to snatch you away." Looking up at Vincent, she hurries to explain further. "Not to say that you're weak-willed or imply anything of that nature, or to say that we're exclusive because I know we haven't really talked about that, but...he's a satyr, for Christssake! Makes me so nervous. Which is stupid, I'm just being weird and girly but...yeah." Malinda sighs, looks up at Vincent and offers a half-smile. "I apologize for the paranoia on my part, really I do."
"Ah." Vincent's hands find their way to her hips once more, resting lightly by her waist. "In that case, I can assure you there is little to fear, beloved. Even should he release the Gift of Pan, I find no answering call to towards him. He is a pleasant fellow, and a good and handsome friend, but looking within myself there is no desire for him to be stirred. Nor is there need to apologize. You have a concern, you should give it voice. Otherwise it would fester within you."
His voice softens the slightest amounts. "In regards to exclusivity, what are your thougthts on the matter? There is much joy in starting our relationship anew and rediscovering one another, and I would not have misunderstanding arise between us later on for lack of a words."
Malinda lets out what can only be a sigh of relief, and rests her head briefly against Vincent's chest. "You'll forgive my dramatic sigh, but I was worried." She lifts her head and regards Vincent before making further comment. "I think...right now, I don't really want to share you. I mean, Eshu have this "playboy" sterotype - a lover in every town, that sort of thing - but I'm just not feeling it. Maybe I simply haven't grown into it yet, maybe I never will. But either way...can we just be for each other, for now? We're new and nothing is set in stone, I know, but for now..." She gives him a look, at once both hopeful and endearing.
Vincent's face and voice betray no emotion, as unreadable as ever. "For now, there is now, beloved, and your words bring to me a great joy." His arms encircle Malinda's waist, holding her warm and living body close to the cool flesh that lies beneath his coat and shirt.
"As to the matter of relocation to a more private setting? Have you such a place in mind?"
Malinda leans in, resting her head against Vincent's chest. As a result her answer is somewhat muffled, but otherwise understandable. "Well, my roomie has been pretty much gone for a while now...we could go back to my dorm, if that's acceptable."
((OOC: This occurs the week before Elle's "reappearance", so I'm gonna suggest she's still MIA))
"Allow me to but extinguish the wicks here, and we shall so adjourn then."
Vincent moves with a sense of purpose to each candle, using a brass snuffer set aside for just such a use. Once he is sure all the wicks have stopped smoking, he pockets the snuffer and grabs a small wooden metronone from one chair. There is no trace of rushing or anxiousness, at least none that show, but nor does it take him all that long to finish up. He does pause long enough to also grab two of the candles as well, ones that are yellow-ish in color compared to all the others, which are stark white.
It seems like no time at all has passed before he is again at Malinda's side, proffering her his arm. "Shall we?"
