DISTRICT BELIEF STATEMENTS - WALLED LAKE SCHOOL DISTRICT
commentary so graciously provided by Ms. Ashley Martin (C) 2000 - 8th Grade Walled Lake Middle School
1. We believe all people can learn (though we cant prove it).
2. We believe everyone has the right, ability, and desire to learn (though we cant prove it).
3. We believe every person has worth (which is about $200,000, dead or alive).
4. We believe adults are role models. (Especially the addicts and athletes.)
5. We believe all members of the school and community are important contributors to the educational process and mutual respect and understanding to work together. (We don't promote, either.)
6. We believe the public image of our schools influences community support. (Our image is down 99% (track).)
7. We believe we are participants in an international society. (Germans love us!)
8. We believe cultural diversity is valued. (We send these kids to Western afterward!)
9. We believe in the value of caring (but we don't express it).
10. We believe in an active partnership among parents, community, and school (and the courtroom).
11. We believe that values, knowledge, and skills are important (in murder, otherwise Manson's just another OJ).
12. We believe every person has a gift to share. (What are you on and why aren't you sharing?)
13. We believe that learning is a lifelong process (for most re-hab freaks).
14. We believe in the importance of self-esteem (though we like to keep it pretty low).
15. We believe that American democracy needs strong public schools. (We <3 Canada!)
