Log:
Souji Seta had seen some pretty bizarre things in his life that he wouldn't even able to be explain. There was the whole jumping into TVs to start, meeting a bear costume that could move by itself, gaining multiple Personae, and not mention battling the strange Shadows along the way. While his stay in Inaba was one of his best years ever, making friends and getting out much more than he ever did before, it was also one of the strangest and hardest year. Having to follow a strict schedule, rescue each kidnapped victim, and still keep up his studies, it was no stroll in the park. Those battles weren't a piece of cake either. However, with every Shadow-- every enemy, he had always been able to pull through to the end with his friends. Especially after that last battle he had right before he went home, he honestly believed that he could defeat anyone or anything that came at him.
But right now...his faith and belief of that was quickly fading.
"You can't give me the room number at all?
"You keep asking and I keep saying no."
He only asked once--
"Do you want me to spell it out for you? You start with the N and you end with the O and what do you get? You get NO."
Yes, he passed grade one spelling class. Can he at least ask if--
"God, kids these days can't take a hint. Speaking about kids, you know that one kid that goes around screaming about Ratattas?"
She was talking about Joey, right? But wasn't he back in Route--
"Good Lord, he never shuts up. You think his parents are around to keep him in line, but nope, they do nothing but just sit on their asses. What kind of parents do that honestly? Not any good ones that's for sure. If that was my kid, I'll give him one hell of spanking that he'll cry for his mother which would be me and then I'll make sure he'll never--"
Yup, this was going to one battle he wasn't quite too sure that he would win.
Well, what was this battle in the first place? Heck, it wasn't even suppose to be one until now. Long story short, Souji heard high wind that Teddie had fallen ill to some cold and was stuck in bed. Of course, the first thing that the leader thought of doing was to go over and see how the bear was holding up, even nurse him if he needed to but...he had no idea what room Teddie was in. He couldn't call him since everyone, even bears, just hated the sound of ringing phones while they were sick and he wasn't quite sure if calling his other friends for the room number would be a good idea. Everyone seemed to be Christmas shopping and busy one way or another, so Souji was alone in solving this.
So, the only approach that he knew how to obtain Teddie's room number was the ask the person behind front desk in the nicest way possible...but guess he wasn't nice enough cause this lady just kept on whining.
"And it's so cold out nowadays. Seesh! I shouldn't even be working today! I should be home watching 'The Good Husband' right now. I better get paid extra for this, having to sit here and die of boredom. Did you ever have a job? Cause let me tell you, it is one of the most mind-blowing and tedious things ever. And to think I wanted to leave school for this. Bah! What a waste! This is the kind of life my mother was talking about? Well, some life I'm leading! Everyday is the same. I think I rather eat a Koffing than this and talk to my ex about this--"
Oh God, and this all just happened from him just asking if he could get a room number. He couldn't get a single word in there. He tried, he honestly tried. He opened his mouth probably twelve times just to say "Sorry, but can you at least tell me what floor he's on?" or something like that. Heck, this was the worst thing he ever had to "battle" with. Yes, a battle cause he needed to get a room number and she wasn't giving.
Normally, this would be when he would call upon on Rise's help to analyze the enemy. He could just hear her voice right now and the data scanned right before his eyes.
Grouchy Middle-aged Lady #1

Null: Mudo & Hama

Weak: Physical
Go for broke, Senpai!
Yeah, something like that, but he wasn't going to hit some lady, no matter how annoying she got...even if it was really tempting to put his hand over her mouth to have her SHUT UP. Souji wasn't the type to be this impolite or irradiated. He dealt with children at a day care before, he knew how to keep his cool, but he was cold, was holding a ridiculously heavy sling bag, and he actually felt like he was going to come down with a cold himself. The last thing he needed was Grouchy Middle-aged Lady #1 to be whining at him.
"Don't you think this is all just one heck of a bore? I mean, seriously. I just sit here all day and no one ever comes in! If they come in, they're people like asking "oh, where's my friend? I need to see my friend. Oh my God, my friend, my friend, my friend." I have better things to do!"
Right, let him guess. Thing to see. Places to go. People to do. Uh-huh.
"Look, I'm sorry I can't tell you where your pal is staying but as much as I hate my job, I just can't give it to you. So, stop standing there and get out unless you're looking for a room! God, is that so hard? Now, all this yelling and talking gave me a sore throat. Not to mention I'm starving as well."
Wait, did she just say she was hungry?
"I could eat a whole Miltank right now if I could, but that stuff is so expensive. It'll be a miracle to buy that stuff with my salary."
This was his move! Time to make her stop talking right there! Hurry!
"Maybe I can buy some cheap meat by the department store later--"
"If you're hungry, I can always treat you to some food."
"Huh?"
Alright, her attention was caught! Now he just needed to put on his A-Game and try to find some way to get over this.
"If you're hungry, I can buy you some dinner. Maybe later tonight?"
Just ease into this. As much as Souji didn't want to take advantage of this, honestly, there was really no other choice. Either he stood here listening to some lady or leave, and both of them were pretty bad options. He had to see Teddie and at least make sure he's not dying up there.
"But ah, you can't give me my friend's room number right? He has my wallet with him, so I guess this is no good."
Here, one hand ran through his hair. He had to look frustrated here. God, what was he even doing.
"Sorry to bother you then. Good by--"
"Hey kid, you're on."
What.
"You get me a dinner at the best restaurant in Goldenrod and I'll get your little friend's room number. Deal?"
"...Deal."
"Thanks. You sure know how to warm a woman's heart. Here, give me a minute. I'll find your 'Teddie' pal in just a minute."
What. That actually worked?
Smooth Seta. Smooth. Now he owed one dinner to some lady that's old enough to be his mother.
God, he knew he got himself into this, but he didn't actually think it would work. Just the things he had to do for his friends. He hoped there was another hotel or inn around here he could stay at. He probably couldn't stay here anymore without having to see that lady...Oh God....the things he had to do...His wallet....Someone please help him--
"Room 501. That's where your buddy is staying."
Room 501, right.
"Thank you." He tried to put on his best smile. The woman just grinned right back with her jagged teeth.
"Later today here at seven. Don't be late."
"...Thank you again..."
What had he gotten himself into? Hopefully that woman won't eat too much, but...ugh, he felt like facepalming now. Well, worry about that later. Just....He just needed to get to Teddie's room, the main reason why he came here. Focus on treating Grouchy Middle-aged Lady #1 later.
It didn't take long for Souji to find room 501. It was the first one to the right of the elevators. Thank God. He wasn't sure he could keep wandering around without fearing that one of his friends approached him because they saw him making that dinner proposal downstairs.
Wasting no time, he double checked that this was the correct room and knocked on the door twice. Teddie, the things Sensei had done for you...He better get one hell of a Christmas present for this...
