France was walking back from his latest purchase the fabric booth (if only he had more money, he would have bought the whole thing), one hand holding the bag of fabric that David, his Poliwag, was riding along in, and the other looking kind of sadly at his wallet. He wasn't really used to having to watch his spending on this sort of thing but...

"Vulpix!"

Marianne stopped abruptly, looking up and to the right with narrowed, suspicious eyes. France followed her line of sight to the Drifblims. They were really kind of cute. Balloons... France hadn't seen a booth selling balloons, but Canada would probably love one. He hurried over, Marianne following close to protect her master from any harm.

"Excuse me! Where did you get the balloons? They're really cute!"

Did they attract some attention? Hope turned around, and spotted the speaker-- an adult with a small Pokémon he'd sometimes see in the rivers. If he remembered right, it was a Poliwag. He never saw one up-close though, and he wanted to take a peek at it...

This was no time to be peering at someone else's Pokémon though, and he straightened up. Kai peered at the stranger, wondering who was this man. Hope could feel her preening a little, being called "cute".

"You cant find them in the wild-- Ven and I caught them when they appeared a few months ago."

"They're... Pokemon?"

France blinked, leaning forward to inspect the balloons more closely.

"Well. That's..." France grinned, standing up straight again and looking a little baffled. "I thought I could by one for Canada, but I guess not. They are very cute, though, even if their composition is more than a little unique; it's a shame I can't hope to catch one in the wild."

He adjusted his hold on his shopping bag before rolling his eyes at himself before beaming winningly. "How rude of me. Let me introduce myself: I'm the Nation of France, and the Poliwag is David and the Vulpix is Marianne."

'That's a strange way to introduce yourself,' were the first words to come to mind when Hope heard him introduce himself. Then again, he'd heard stranger names, like Oerba Dia Vanille and Oerba Yun Fang, and Hope's far too polite to ask anything about this man's name.

"I'm Hope Estheim, and this is Kai." He gestured at the Drifblim attached to his belt loops. He'd let Ven introduce himself.

"Maybe you don't have to. ... You see, we're looking for people who could take them in."

France took Ventus's offered hand, shaking it warmly. He had been rather surprised at Hope's announcement that they were looking for a new owner for their Drifblims, but it made a lot more sense when Ventus's explanation.

"Well, hopefully, they are able to go to good homes," France said before peering closely at the Drifblim again. "They are very unique and so adorable. I know we just met, but I am a breeder, not much of a trainer, although Marianne seems set to cure me of that. If you can't find anyone, I would be more than happy to care for them. I'm curious, what do they eat? Do they float naturally like this, or do they have to like you? Do they have names?"

Hope looked at Ventus, his Drifblim, Kai, and then back to Ventus, almost excited. France seemed like a strange man, but he also seemed kind, and even excited to take in both of them instead of simply one-- not many people did that.

... Not that Hope knew of anyone like that.

"Breeders are all right for them-- Kai doesn't seem to like fighting anymore, and she'd be better off with a breeder than a trainer like me." He smoothed out one of Kai's ribbons as he spoke. "They eat the same things other Pokémon do, so that wouldn't be a problem, and they always float like this because they're ghost Pokémon. You just have to make sure they wont float away when it's windy."

France listened, eyes flickering backing and forth between the speaker and the pokemon, a contemplative look on his face that morphed into surprise at the offer that Ventus made.

"Both?" France laughed, looking extremely apologetic. "I would be able to take care of both of them, but I haven't got anything worth two of these adorable creatures to trade you; I can't offer up Marianne or David."

Marianne looks infinitely displeased at this turn of events, but David just stares up at the Drifblim with huge, somewhat awed eyes.

"... I don't mind if you cant trade someone in for Kai. It really wouldn't feel right to get someone's Pokemon in exchange."

Hope looked down at her, then back up at France. "If you'd like her, then I'd be happy to let her go. As long as she'd be happy."

France paused, obviously very excited and trying to control it. He didn't do a very good job, his eyes lighting up and grinning from ear to ear.

"I would have honored to have both of them, and I promise that I will keep them out of battle unless it's completely necessary for one reason or another. If it's alright, could I contact you in the future if I have questions about their care? I don't want them to be uncomfortable."

Here came some frantic nodding, a grin spreading on Hope's face. "Sure-- you know how to get us if you need help. We're glad you can do it."

He wouldn't deny he'd miss Kai, but she'd be better off.
