Claire was sitting on the bed, bag tossed on alongside her, Pokemon inside their balls, PokeGear closed and shut off. She couldn't stop fidgeting with her hands, staring between them and the door. At one point she'd gone to draw the blinds over the window; the sunlight was far too bright and it made her even more nervous ( ... )

As the sounds of locks and chain rattling was heard from the other side of the door, Hershel felt like he couldn't breath for a moment. What if it was someone else on the side of the door? Was Remi in there by herself in there? What if it was the wrong door, wrong inn, wrong person, wrong hallucination? His worries and doubt just consumed him and it sucked the air out of him ( ... )

Claire snuggled into Hershel's embrace, vaguely aware that he'd spoken. She slowly turned her head to look up at him.

"It's good to see you too." And it was... even if she thought she'd been saying her final goodbye to him a mere week ago. It had been quite a long week, though, and she definitely appreciated having him here.

Just as she had the last time she'd seen him in person, she loosened her hug to reach up and cup her cheek in her hand, tilting his chin toward her so that she could gently press her lips to his in a chaste kiss.

For Hershel, it's been a good ten years since he last saw Claire. Ten long years. He wasn't even able to say his goodbyes to her on the last day he saw her. He just sat there dumbfound with his new hat while she just ran off to the lab, making him promise to wear the new top hat over dinner. Of course, so he sat and just watched her leave off without even a goodbye, and he still regretted that to this very day, thinking about it whenever he looked in the mirror and saw that top hat of his. But now that Claire was here, he was going to make sure not to repeat the same mistakes ( ... )

Claire laughed gently behind closed lips, snuggling against him again. He was still as awkward as ever when it came to affection.

"Of course I am," she said softly. "Don't you believe your eyes?" And as she returned to the cuddle, she could feel something wet on his face. She pulled back to speak to him again.

"Am I that bad at kissing, Hershel?" She was teasing him again, but... she really did want him to be comfortable, not flustered or crying.

He let out a small "hm", still resting his chin on her shoulder as she asked whenever or not he couldn't believe. Honestly, it was a combination. He couldn't believe that she was alive, but at the same time, he did because she was right here. Really, it was really hard to say, as it probably would for anyone that passed away ten years ago and just showed up completely fine and alive, especially if it were their sweetheart. "It has been ten years, Claire...I just need this all to sink in..." And it already did a bit over the week of traveling he did while backtracking to Cherrygrove, but to finally see her in the flesh and hold her like this, it was only staring now to dig in ( ... )

"It's alright, I was just afraid I'd disappointed you somehow." She laughed a little more as she felt his lips on her forehead. She began to squirm a bit, pulling away from him, indicating that she wanted out of the hug; it wasn't as if she wanted to end it so soon, but she was sure they would be more comfortable sitting down -- especially Hershel; the dust of the road was still on him, he had to be tired.

To be honest, Hershel was still exhausted from all of that traveling and running all the way here. His heart was still racing and he was actually starting to have a slight headache from the lack of oxygen, but really, he was fine. It was probably all from being overjoyed and letting all that blood get to his head. He would need to lie down in his room after this reunion, but he would rather stay here and deal with a headache instead of making this short and heading back ( ... )

Clare shook her head gently, still smiling, taking his hand and pulling him toward the bed she'd claimed. She wasn't trying to be suggestive, really; they were just the only pieces of furniture in the room that could fit more than one person at once. She sat down on its edge, gently patting the spot next to her.

"You must be tired, Hershel, come sit down. Take your shoes off if you'd like." At least, she knew that was the first thing she'd wanted to do after checking into the inn.

Another light blush quickly flushed over his cheeks and he placed a hand to his mouth as he let out an awkward cough. Hershel knew that she was just offering a seat, honest, but perhaps everything didn't come off the way he thought ( ... )

Claire giggled a bit at his fluster, still smiling as she watched him untie his shoes; once he seemed more comfortable, she scooted closer so that their legs and sides were touching and leaned against him, tugging at his arm a bit.

She nodded at his question, snuggling against him. "It wasn't so bad as you thought; it was sunny the whole time, even a bit warm." And sneakily, as they were so close anyway, she brought her foot over and stroked the side of his foot once with her own.

He nodded as well, smiling. "That is good to hear," and it truly was. Thankfully, the weather was actually quite nice these past few days for once and he was grateful for that. It made his traveling a lot easier and probably Claire's as well. He also didn't have to worry about Claire and Remi walking without an umbrella if it rained.

The Professor was about to move his hat in a way for his to not get in the way when his foot was "attacked". Suddenly, he clamped a hand-- the one that was fiddling with the Pokeball --over his mouth. As much as he didn't want to admit it, Hershel was ridiculously ticklish and all over; his feet, knees, stomach. Even a simple little action like Claire's foot stroking his own, it just made him want to laugh such as now. However, a true gentleman didn't start bursting out in loud laughter like this! But even with that hand clamped around his mouth, he didn't do a very good job of keeping silent or stopping his body from shaking. "C-Claire, you hahaha k-know how tickli-- haha --sh I am. Haha."

Claire looked at him in some confusion; surely a simple touch like that wouldn't send him over the edge? But she retreated, crossing her legs at the ankles and folding her hands in her lap; looking down into her lap, she seemed a little hurt.

"Oh, I see. I'm sorry, Hershel."

It took a few seconds for Hershel to catch his breath. Honestly, he was ridiculously ticklish. He was like one of those children you would see flailing around after a single poke to their stomach. He was exactly like that when he was a child and he still was now. It was actually rather all embarrassing to be honest. What would have happened if he started laughing all a sudden in the middle of a lecture because someone just decided to tickle him?

Hershel finally caught his breath and fixed his top hat for what seemed the fifth time this whole day. He then shook his head and suddenly felt horrible. "No need to apologize, Claire. It is not your fault. I should apologize instead. I'm just very ticklish in certain parts..." Which parts exactly, that was probably for Claire and the others to figure out. He wasn't exactly ready to go around telling others.

She smiled at him gently, leaning against him again and tucking her head under his arm. Didn't boys like to put their arms around their girlfriends? Resting her cheek on his chest, she tilted her head up to face him so they could talk.

"I guess I'll have to try it while you're wearing shoes next time."

Relaxing again, and oh -- "Weren't you going to show me your partner?"

And just like what Claire assumed, Hershel did place his left arm around her because, of course, boys liked placing their arm around their sweethearts. Especially for someone that was dead for ten years in his time. He wasn't just going to let this escape him. Not now or ever ( ... )
