[Karkat's hardly alone in feeling nervous. He has his own gift, and has been wanting to give it to Karkat ever since he got it, but... What if it seems like a little much? What if Karkat's put off by it? He can only hope he won't be. When he hears the knock on his door, he jumps, not expecting anyone to come over, especially not Karkat. Though maybe he should have, he doesn't know...]

[Securing the gift in its small box, having just been looking at it, he heads to the door. Hesitantly he opens it, peering out to see who it is before opening it all the way. Greeting his matesprit with a nervous smile.]

Oh, hey Kar, wasn't expectin' ya. I uh--What's up?

[Because he's acting 100% normal, y e p.]

[ okay, so Karkat's cheeks are a little pink and he turns his face away from Eridan. ]

Just figured since it was the equivalent of Twelfth Perigee's Eve and all, that maybe. Maybe you'd what to spend it together or something.

[He's definitely moving out of the way to let Karkat in. Because, yeah he likes spending any time he can with the other former troll, so on a holiday, even if it's more so a human one, it definitely means all the more, right? Right.]

[He can't help but glance at the small box on the little end table though, wondering if he should leave it there or move it. Maybe it'll go unnoticed. Probably. Yeah. It's fine over there.]

[ and Karkat is slipping in. he's being a little awkward about it, considering that he is still hiding an egg and box behind is back. can't let Eridan see! not yet! ]

[He closes the door behind Karkat, watching him move kinda--oddly. What's his deal--but then he speaks and that gives him a good idea of what Karkat's trying to conceal.]

Oh... Well--[Wait, other stuff? Is... Is it possibly what Eridan thinks it is? He sure hopes so. Because Eridan is always up for some sloppy teenaged make outs!!]

Yeah, gift exchange... That sounds like a rightly good idea. I was gonna find you tomorrow, but tonight is as good. I uh...

[Just gonna make his way over to that end table, snatch up that box, but going to play it off like he didn't even grab anything, just walking by to get to the couch, y e p. Where he's going to take a seat and pat next to him. May as well have a seat if they're gonna be opening gifts!]

[ and Karkat makes his way to the couch. his arms are getting tired, holding that weight. all the better when he sits down. he can tuck in behind him. look! hands are free.

[If it were up to Eridan, he'd greedily keep Karkat to himself tomorrow, but he knows Karkat probably wouldn't go for that, seeing as the rest of them would want him there. So, he'll take this, take what he can get, yeah.]

... So well, uh. Do--Do you wanna do this at the same time, or do you wanna go first--should I?

[ his lips twitch, a soft expression crossing his features before he leans over to give Eridan a quick kiss to the cheek. then Karkat leans back, acting like he hadn't just done that. oh Eridan... that nervous streak is kind of cute. ]

Well yours is kind of in two parts so... Either way is fine.

[Oh. He definitely lights up at that kiss, think of a woofbeast getting a treat, that's basically him right now. His nervousness subsiding slightly, god this isn't a familiar feeling at all, but getting some relief from it to flush-swoon at that kiss is definitely a comfort. But it doesn't last long, since it also serves to remind him what he might be crossing with his gift... Fuck, fuck okay maybe... Maybe Karkat should go first.]

Uh--Well, how about you go first then?

[ Karkat watches him for a moment, a little smirk on his face. ]

[ his hands go to behind his back. ]

Remember how I said I needed to talk to a breeder? And you got pissy with me for not telling you why?

[ now he presents the egg to Eridan, ears burning. sure does have a purple ribbon wrapped around it. ]

This was what I was looking for, specifically. It'll hatch into an Eevee. They have like six different forms they can take later...

[ because he feels he needs to explain. ]

I-- [Oh. Now he feels like a dick for getting so annoyed... Oops. But really, that worry is behind seeing as when the egg is presented to him, purple bow to boot, he smiles wide, eyes lighting up. He's not even sure what it is, but that hardly matters, it could be a goddamn magikarp and he'd still like it, because it's from Karkat. But then he hears the rest, how it's an Eevee and it has different forms?]

[He looks up at Karkat, curiously.]

Different forms? Like, what?

You have to use stones, basically,

[ now Karkat presents Eridan with the waterstone. after a pause, he rubs the back of his neck. waiting. ]

Stones?

[And before the word really leaves his mouth, Karkat's presenting him with a stone. A very blue stone, an obvious WATER stone. He stares at it. Then the egg. Then Karkat. Stone, egg, Karkat.]

[He reaches, taking both egg and stone, looking them over, his expression soft, grateful, an expression that's pretty foreign to the features of Eridan Ampora. This really just means a lot to him, this entire thing. Karkat coming over, him giving him not one, but two gifts, the thought that was put into the selection of said gift and the meaning behind it. He just doesn't even know what to say, of course a thank you is in order, that much is obvious, but should he really say it in words? He thinks not.]

[He carefully sets them down on the end table near his end of the couch, making sure the egg isn't within any danger of rolling off or anything before turning to Karkat, grabbing his shoulders and pulling him in for a kiss. YEP That's your thanks, Karkat, because he honestly hasn't the words to express it properly!]

[ even Karkat isn't used to having to see emotions like that on Eridan's face. it's... odd. Karkat is so unsure of it at the moment. is this a good thing? is this a bad thing? Karkat believes that he did a good job. maybe Eridan doesn't really understand, what with him not saying anything... so Karkat is going to try to explain his thought process. ]

Yeah, the evolution I was thinking about that you'd like was Vaporeon, so -

[ but alas! there are hands on his shoulders and yeap. sure is some kissing going on and Karkat knows. he knows that he did good by Eridan. putting his hands on the other, his cheeks feel hot as he takes a moment to return the offer of gratitude. ]

[Cutting Karkat off like that was just a bonus, and it definitely spurs the thought on whether or not it could be a thing he can exploit in the future, you know, to shut Karkat up seeing as sometimes he just goes on into forever. But when Karkat returns it, those warm fuzzies are definitely filling Eridan, and his excitement only helps.]

[Karkat isn't alone with the blushing, while Eridan is hardly some shy little girl, he's not exactly well versed in the language of teen smooching, so he's definitely feeling a bit of heat in his cheeks. But that's fine, they can be blushing bbies together or something, even if Eridan would much rather hide behind his arrogance, but in this moment? He really, honestly, can't.]

[But before too long, before these can turn into hot, sloppy, teenaged make outs, he pulls back, just smiling at Karkat a moment or two.]Uh... [ no one is going to make fun of Eridan for the awkward flutterbeasts. though if this turns into a method of shutting Karkat up, he will be pretty offended. as it is, the short kiss is pretty nice. pulling back, eventually, seems like a shame. this is one of the 'other stuff' that Karkat had maybe spoken of.

Karkat doesn't smile back, but his forehead is smooth, without signs of any scowling. it's a warm look that he's given Eridan instead. really, it's amazing to Karkat. they've been together for what... over a month now and Karkat is actually happy about this. happy. ]

Yeah, I know. It's why I'm not screaming at you.

[ and he's most certainly able to wait for Eridan. ]
