[just so happens that another soliciting young man also finds that particular bikini to be distinctly familiar, and another pair of hands find themselves snaking for the same bikini moments before it is appropriated by the first set of hands.

Fuji Shuusuke brushes his bangs out of his eyes absently, and tilts his head in consideration, before smiling.]

I suppose this would be what I'd call 'impeccable taste'.

[and any amusement jade might have felt in that store is suddenly both amplified and negated by the newcomer's appearance. is surprised by fuji's presence? perhaps, perhaps not. the only thing jade is extremely sure of is the fact that he suddenly feels like keeping the yellow bikini in his hands longer than he originally planned.

of all the people to meet in a lingerie store.]

I could say the same. [and here jade is lifting the hanger, showcasing the lost bikini. what a loss, fuji. what a loss.] A pity your hands aren't as quick as your eyes, Two Full Cups.

[is the other's presence in the lingerie shock anything of a surprise? not really. he thinks he's had far more intricate surprises-- though this one, in itself, ranks fairly high up there in terms of amusement. on the other hand, he doesn't think he expected the other man to be so tall. it takes him a moment to adjust to the height difference that the pokegear once made irrelevant, considering the right angle to maintain eye-contact without making it tedious.

it's not something that he's particularly bothered by, but it's yet another thing to watch out for.]

I'd say it's the weight of the water that slows me down, Two Empty Cups. I never thought shopping for women's swimwear would be so competitive.

A surprisingly realistic observation, coming from an optimist.

[there's the smallest trace of a lilt in his words--that small bit of teasing mixed with amusement mixed with some sort of underlying statement. but no, that's just overthinking things. jade's just being jade and making things interesting with some unrelated teasing.]

At the very least, you're prepared for next time. Might I suggest adorning half your load for that particular adventure?

[he reserves judgment on the remark-- though not pinpointing the underlying statement would be something like ignoring everything that's been said in their past conversation. things from the past are the foundations for the future; past conversations build on the air of present conversations. his meaning, he thinks, can only be clear.

he hums.]

If I did that, I'd have a hard time fulfilling my moniker. And I have to say, I'm rather fond of it-- aren't you?

I didn't think you'd gain an attachment to a nickname, of all things. How very unexpected. [his casual shrug matches the smile on his face--jokes and cryptic remarks, a nice compliment to the yellow bikini in his hands. jade adjusts the hanger in his hands for a moment more before he places it back on the rack, right in front of a black one-piece.

he takes a half-step backwards. his glasses catch the light. as planned? as planned.] What's in a name? I'm sure adding Two Half Cups to your repertoire would do you little harm. A lighter load for a lighter price. [he looks back through the rack, pushing through it to distribute his attention.]

You say that like you've never appreciated a nickname. [it's said with a shrug as he tilts his head, watching as light dances across the surface of the glass. it reminds him of a zamboni, though he supposes that's not quite the line of thought that should be employed here.

the movement of the swimwear, dangling from the racks, catches his attention, and he turns almost lazily to watch the spaghetti straps swing.] Though that does beg the question-- where did all that water go?

They're more tools of amusement. [he pushes more hangers to the side. they make a rather ugly scraping sound against the rack, but he ignore that.] In that regard, I suppose they is a bit of appreciation.

As for that water... [more squeaking. oh, look, one of these bikinis looks like a glitter-filled balloon exploded on it. jade'll stop there.] Spilled?

[the scraping sound elicits something like a frown out of him, disguised as contemplation. though anyone who knows Fuji well enough knows that he doesn't frown when he thinks. he smiles.]

Water under the bridge; seems poetic enough.

Though all that spilled water-- wouldn't it be nice, if it rained more?

[ he continues the scraping sound, after a small onceover of that terrible looking bathing suit. there's no way fuji can be enjoying this--jade knows this much, at least. ]

Would it. [ he stops his obnoxious shifting only for that moment. then he's right back to it. ] Umbrellas are inconvenient things to carry.

[oh Jade. the sound lingers in the air, the ghost of an echo, even without the physical movements that accompany it. irrationally, it makes him want to take a hold of the metal frame.]

Though they can sport beautiful patterns. An umbrella with a butterfly on it, for example-- spreading its wings during rainfall.

Indeed. Yet I admit I've never paid much mind to the aesthetics of things. [ which is somewhat true, really--he didn't. umbrellas were umbrellas and sculptures were sculptures outside of their important features, and he was sticking to that.

the slowest scrape he can manage. ]

[the sound is distracting.] Paid much mind-- or ignore it entirely? There is a difference.

[such as the difference between not minding the sound and ignoring the sound. is the man truly indifferent, does is he ignoring it at best?]

A small amount of attention is necessary for identification purposes. [ ignoring things like that is counter-productive, he finds. one thing he can't ignore, however, is testing the boundaries of fuji's patience. he pretends to be ignorant to the fact the sound is all but grating.

hence why he's not making some snide comment like "wow, the state of these hangers!", though he's close to it. ]

[and he hums, here. identification purposes, huh.

the grating sound continues. he smiles.]

No more than that?

I've never found it necessary. [ the words of an old man. ] Are you the opposite?
