Log:
Why'd it have to be so damn hot?
Not that it wasn't anything that the SOLDIER couldn't handle. Both he and the Dratini could really get moving when given the proper motivation -- for himself, it was the thought of seeing Aerith again. The all-seizing fear that she might be in unseemly or incapable company. The excitement at the prospect of having her to travel with and to just... talk to whenever he wanted for the first time in his life. There were several stones that had been left unturned in Midgar and on Gaia in general, of course.
And the fact that ShinRa might not be far behind her hadn't escaped him, either. If he could get to Johto and Aerith could get to Johto, it was really only a matter of time. Duty would catch up to him, and with it... responsibilities. Maybe ShinRa would turn Johto unto another Midgar. He just didn't know.
Luckily, however, he'd made the trip to and from New Bark Town several times over and had a quick path marked. The high-energy Angela kept up with his grueling pace with ease, probably anxious to see what in the world had put her go-with-the-flow trainer on edge so quickly.
It wasn't long before he heard the dying crackle of a dimming campfire... and he immediately switched gears to something with a bit more stealth.
Zack motioned for Angela to swing around and approach the clearing ahead from the other side -- a command she was used to receiving when ambushing wild opponents, so she nodded silently and slithered off into the darkness.
Being just as quiet as he could be, he did what he could to keep control of his swelling heart and began to move in.
