Ruki first pressed his lips to Kyo's wrist, and then to his lips, perhaps with more force than was originally intended, but almost all intentions were lost within the feeling of the action. There was this sense of longing within their bodies, like a pit with a bottom that your feet were only scraping, needing, wanting to reach the bottom. And by doing so, by reaching that bottom, there would be safety within unknown walls. Within unknown and invisible walls, but there was comfort in knowing that those walls would be supported by someone you did know.

The bare trees cut across the clear sky like ugly scars. Ruki traced the outline of Kyo's tattoos, so softly and precisely as if he was worried that if he pressed too hard, then they would rub off, and the foundation upon which Kyo had built himself would be gone. Kyo watched, his breaths warm and even, somewhat mesmerised by the childlike qualities that Ruki still possessed.

And the cold wind howled, and they were so warm, but Ruki's body still trembled; Kyo pushed his hair out of his eyes, and pulled Ruki closer. He could smell the very essence of Ruki, and it was intoxicating, that of glamour, and fear, and cigarettes and that very something that made Ruki who he was. It's a feeling.

The bedsheets were pooled around them in such a way that it seemed almost theatrical and fake, yet this was anything but fake. While Kyo might not have been a natural blonde, nor Ruki the whatever colour his hair was now, it was not the details of their outer appearances that mattered, it was what was inside that was raw and untainted by the horror and futility of everyday life.

Ruki murmured something against Kyo's neck, his words lost in Kyo's skin, and though he wouldn't know what those words were, he would know that whatever they were, they would always be there. But soft now; it's a feeling, it's an action. Meanings which taint the heart, and Kyo drew his arms around Ruki's waist; love becomes not a feeling, but a state of the mind.
