Drabblish for Kitty

Sep 17, 2007 12:05

I told Kitty LAST YEAR I would write her a drabble and she picked a snarky Kaith. It's been a long time since I've written Kaith, snarky or not. So this is what I came up with.

Sorry it took so long Kitty! *hugs* I really did want to turn it around a bit faster than this. Even if it wasn't exactly what you were looking for, I hope you enjoy it.

God he was growing to really dislike this man. He couldn’t quite bring himself to hate the fool. The man was too young, too shallow and too insignificant for the ancient head healer to actually feel that deeply about the Master now yelling at him. It wasn’t as if this were the first time that had happened.

He smiled a smile that was perhaps too sweet, a sure sign that he was about to become this man’s worst nightmare.

“I’m sorry, Master… what was it again? Ah yes, Twizzlestick, but you can’t see your Key.” He purposely butchered the man’s name. “You see, I’ve misplaced him…”

The man before him roared. “You fucking liar. Let me see him! I know he’s here.” The man stepped forward, as if to enter farther into his clinic.

Kaith gracefully stepped before him blocking his way. Outwardly unruffled, Kaith answered. “It’s just a paperwork error, Sir. I’m sure in a few days we’ll find him.”

“I’ll be gone in a few days!”

Kaith tsked and moved to the side once the obviously upset man moved back. “Well isn’t that a shame. Perhaps you should have thought of that before you tried to kill him.” He didn’t sound the least bit repentant, instead his words dripped with sarcasm.

“Fuck you.” The Master said as he lunged forward, running towards the heart of the infirmary.

Kaith yanked the security bell pull. Out from the shadows spread by his plants a man formed. Kaith pointed at the bull in his china shop. With speed no human could match the man clad in darkness caught the Master and dragged the surprised man to stand before the Head Healer.

“Took you long enough,” Kaith said, an eyebrow raised in question, his lips a disapproving line “He might have found his missing Key if you taken any longer. Then I’d have been forced to kill him and you’d have been stuck hiding his body. You keep digging up Mojo’s rose bushes to hide them and someone’s going to get suspicious.

The Master sputtered with indignation.

The Head of Security frowned at the Head Healer as was required by their relationship. “Maybe you’d like to start hiding them yourself?”

Kaith waived a hand. “Oh no. I’m the healer remember. It’s my job to decide who lives and dies. As Head of Security, hiding the bodies is your job. Since its your job to protect him from the forces of evil.”

Kiyam frown deepened. “So what about him. I don’t usually hide live ones. And now he knows.”

Kaith waived a dismissive hand and turned away. “Let me guess, you want me to do everything for you. You’re a half demon surely you can come up with something.

Kiyam growled appropriately fiercely, but the head healer ignored him, already moving on to another task.

He waited until Kiyam and the Master disappeared. Kiyam would deliver the man back to his suite with the appropriate threats. And if the man ever told, it was of course his and Kiyam’s word against the Master’s. His story of them hiding Masters in the shrubbery would of course be his undoing. No one in there right mind would believe Kiyam and Kaith were first in league with each other or second stupid enough to hide dead bodies in the gardens. If they wanted someone gone, they would just disappear and no one would be the wiser. Everyone in the Palace knew that.

He picked up the tray of food he’d put down when the Master had come in and wandered back into the recovery room.

“How silly of me, your exactly where I left you,” he said with a smile on his face. He knew the exchange had been heard. “Are you feeling better?” he asked the battered but healing Key lying in the bed.

This time their reputations would do some good
