Christ, next thing you know, we'll be buying a minivan...

Today Shelle started being a real soccer mom, which I guess makes me the wordful "soccer soon-to-be-stepdad". Archer had his first practice and scrimmage game, and did very well. He clung to his mom's leg, afraid to join the group at the beginning, but we pried him off and threw him at the wolves. I told him "Dude, as soon as you score a goal, you're going to be addicted and you won't wanna come back."

He scored two.

His team lost 5-3, but Archer was the only kid on his team to score, and he did it twice. (Yes, I realize the math doesn't work out. That's because his team's first goal was scored by a very confused opposition kid who went the wrong way upfield.) He was also a very good sport in general, which is good to see in a six year old. Oh, and he made one kid cry, but it was mostly an accident. (Plus the kid kinda had it comin'...) Our little Beckham came out of it very splotchy red and sweaty, but had a great time. I guess now we have to get those damned soccer ball stickers for our vehicles.

...Ah...no. That's not happening. No soccer stickers.
But that doesn't mean we won't raise a decent athlete.
