Since
Semana Santa has just finished it's time to stick this one up.
A bit tricky to translate because of a lack of tildes, but this is the best I can do;
Will there be a death for the salvation of tourism?
Or something like that.
This year I avoided Semana Santa by getting to Morocco, but even a few days of it after I got back really bugged me.
The price of beer goes up by 30-50%. But it's not simply that, it the cashing in. Not that I'm a fan of the event, I rate it as 'sad' and 'bollocks' but what happens with all this devotion and anticipation? People up their prices to make a quick buck. It's hypocrisy, plain and simple and when you see it, it begs the question; is it maintained party because of the profits it brings?
It certainly feels like it when you
read about other regions in Spain* looking to and guaranteeing increases in tourist numbers.
* The headline says "The Region bets on Holy Week tourism"
