Thursday: Personal & Professional Standards

Jan 26, 2006 20:44

There are people who believe that all humans are equal. This is ridiculous. We know through genetics that some people have certain genetic talents that others do not posses. Some people can jump higher, run faster, or have a knack for mathematics because of a genetic twist of fate. One would think that it might be an idea to study this to see if there is away that we could make the human race better, but these leads us to idea’s like Eugenics, something that no one wants to talk about because it is closely related to the ideology of the Nazis.

There is scientific research being done to show that our minds can be improved upon regardless of our genetics. Meditation, focused reading, and repetitive exercises can in fact change the ability for how people think. (i.e. television makes you dumber, while books make you smarter…ect.)

If you agree with this, then I suggest that it might be possible to make a better human by applying standards to our everyday life. I believe Personal Standards are the key to building good moral character.

Of course there will be no shortage of people who disagree with me. The people to lazy too make something of themselves hate those of us who work on self improvement, because it reveals themselves as failures. Since success is defined by the individual, being successful must be a decision that only the individual can make. By changing our habits little by little, everyday, all of us can improve our lives and change our perceptions of reality thereby changing reality itself.

Over the next few days I will suggest concepts for building a higher value of moral character in the individual, without all the mysticism of religion or the dogma of politics.

End of Line.
