They're tearing down the rest of the apartments that were gutted by the fire. This really bothers me. When I left to drop Matt off at work I could see things (a bed?) that weren't totally burned falling down into the rubble. When I returned everything was torn down...there's just the master bedroom walls that were up against the firewall between the two buildings. In the basement apartment there was a small ironing board, completely intact, hung up on the wall. The roof/attic area between the two buildings is badly burned. I think that this is where they breeched the firewall...an act that could have been quite disastrous. I wanted to hang out and watch more, to soak all of the horror in, but I felt like a freak...plus the big asbestos warning signs all over the place made me a little wary. I'll sneak back out for a little bit before therapy tonight to see the finished product. They have huge trucks just waiting, literally in a line, to be filled with what used to be the lives of so many. I really, really hate this.
