For the last year, I have been wearing black pants and a collared black shirt to work. Apart from the occasional dark jeans and another black shirt (that still has a collar), when my other clothes are in the wash.
And last night at work, I was presented with our new "uniforms" to try on. We can keep our black pants, but the top is a purple singlet top. Guys can keep wearing their black, but the girls get a singlet top. It will have the company logo on it soon.
Not only does it look unprofessional, I don't like giving guys an excuse to perve on me. If I want to wear a singlet top in my own time, then that's ok. But when I work at a bar and have guys perving on me when I'm in a collared shirt, it's going to be even worse. I mean, I can handle the shit (not that I used to get much of it), but I'd like a workplace without such a large potential to be harassed.
It's almost as if work thought "hey! we have some hot girls working here, so lets put them in singlets!" and we're now a marketing tool for them.
And did I mention it's so unprofessional??
Oh, and what the hell? I was told last night that we are currently running horribly over budget. This new manager's priorities are so up her arse.
