Well. The wedding. Just in case some of you have been following the saga:
She looked beautiful. Her dress was an ivory-like colour, strapless with a train. She had 5 bridesmaids. Meaning that not only did she replace me, she added one too.
I tried to not cry as she walked up the aisle, and managed to not cry until they got to the vows. "you're your mother's daughter" as dad told me. Good thing Alan reminded me to take tissues.
I honestly don't know what to write about this wedding. I wanted to come back from my best friend's wedding all ecstatic and stoked and full of joy. But I didn't. I got into bed that night and bawled my eyes out to Alan.
It wasn't how I pictured my best friend's wedding to be. It was even worse than what I thought it would be. I was more Jason's guest than Simone's. He was the one who I danced with. He was the one who would notice me with the camera and tap Simone to pose for me. And he was the one who thanked me for the poem.
The BBQ the next day at her place was even more painful. Me and Alan bolted as soon as we had been there a long enough time.

The rest of the weekend:
I fell in the river! Yep, not kidding. And it wasn't even in my boat!
Alan and I went down to the Barwon River, just below the old paper mill and went exploring down there. I had my shoes in my hand because jumping rocks in patent leather isn't very smart. And what would you know? I slipped on a rock and went splash - but I managed to save my shoes!
After that we saw "Happily Never After" (some good one liners, but otherwise quite weak)
And we finished up with dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's which was lovely - mmm, roast beef!!! It was also cool because without Mum and Dad, I got the full stories. Usually I have to just pick out the stories as they reference them, but with just me and Alan, the full stories actually happened. For example, I didn't know the reason Grandma's family left the farm for the city! I thought they left cos the the depression! But turns out they moved cos of Pop being in the army! And about little button polishers and boot cleaning devices Pop made up.
So if we forget about the tear-inducing wedding, woo hoo for my weekend!
