In other news, I had a wonderful Thanksgiving break with Alan... at least, after a rocky start with a cramped-in-the-back bus ride up to Portland. The two of us went up to see my parents (and, indeed, the rest of my family) and stayed from Wednesday night to Sunday afternoon. My mother even managed to get him to eat SPINACH cleverly hidden in lasagna. I don't think I'll ever get him to live this down. The Thanksgiving meal itself was delicious and laden with many a delightful dessert (ah, sugar, my constant weakness!), and we rented movies and then passed out a while after.
On Friday I took him and my mom on the holiday tour of the Victoria Mansion, which neither of them had ever seen before; stunningly, having lived in Portland for over twenty years, my mom has never seen it. The last time I was there myself was with Kristi some time ago (which was awesome! I miss Kristi!). They both loved it, and Alan and I had fun geeking out over Ravenlofty things ("Oh, Emery would TOTALLY love this room!"). Later that night, he and I went to see The Fountain, which was... really quite amazing, if very sad. I highly recommend it. There's shirtless-making out in the bathtub. Which means everyone's wet. Oh yes. Wet Hugh Jackman, how you haunt my dreams.
Day after that, we went for a walk around Back Cove with my parents, which was fun, if horribly sunny and cold. Over the course of this break we also went on several drives, which I've been missing so much. There's something very simply and fundamentally awesome about driving around talking to someone about everything, and nothing, and theories and geekage. I miss it with my Stacii.

Alas, I missed hanging out with any of my Portland friends over the break. I figured everyone would most likely be busy. If anyone IM'd me over the break, I didn't get it because my computer was acting like an ass when I returned and I had to restart it. I must say, it was nice in a way to come back to a clean floor (cleaned everything up on Tuesday night, and even ran over the carpet with a hod-d-d-d-d). Which is quickly getting gunked up again with clothes. Damn my unbreakable habits of mess.

But anyway, enough break-related rambling. I have Painter homework to get to. Which is already late, because I'm a schmuck like that.
