My future.

Son,

Your mother and I were greatly concerned by your most recent letter. Do not forget who or what you are. You have a destiny to fulfill, just as Muggles are destined to breed like rats. The extinguishment of such filth has always been your future - it is imperative that you carry on the Rosier name, and bear it proudly.

Dispense of any foolish notions regarding other paths in life. Only the weak work with words for a living.

Do not embarrass me again.

- E.G.R, senior

Professor Hollenshade asked me to stay after class yesterday. He sat me down, patting my shoulder as though he was my father, and asked if I had ever considered writing as a career. He went on to tell me how strong my essays had always been, and how I was one of the most promising pupils he had ever seen. I have never seen a man look so earnest or passionate about me before.

I laughed in his face.

My destiny is not to write novels. I know who I am, and what I will be. I am meant for far greater things than poems or stories or other such foolishness. I will follow in the footsteps of my father and make my family proud. I am a Rosier, by Salazaar.

I will not forget that again.
