So, for everyone's info, the military has this television service for all of us service members stationed over seas and on ships; it's called Armed Forces Network (AFN). They've got 11 channels to choose from and the channels are time slotted for certain parts of the world, Pacific Commands, European commands, etc. The stations in America give or, sell for a greatly reduce price, popular American television shows to AFN and then AFN shows them to us. (Let's not talk about the shows they have; all of the CSI's, Oprah and Dr. Phil, Ghost Whisperer, Medium, Charmed... It fucking sucks.)
Well, as of July 4th, there's a new AFN Channel. It's AFN Freedom. It's on the Iraq time zone. What does it say about our exit strategy that we spent all of the money to configure our satellites for another television channel so that our troops in Iraq can watch shitty TV? I don't think it says that we're going to be leaving anytime soon.
