P.A.Works founder and president Horikawa Kenji confirmed in an interview that Shirobako will not receive a second season or a film adaptation.
"There won’t be a (Shirobako season 2 or Shirobako film adaptation). We do have enough material to create a second season, but the director’s schedule is packed for the next few years, so we wouldn’t ask him to direct it even if we wanted to. We’re not even considering the project as a possibility right now. It would be difficult to even produce another OVA."
