More music is made in a single day now than in the entire year of 1989 and it's becoming a problem. By 2030 we'll have more people making music than the entire population of Russia. But it's actually hurting the industry more than it helps it.

I'm not sure what you want to be done about this besides try and force people to stop making music. As someone who makes music, but not particularly well or successfully, surely I would be one of the people who should stop to make room for those sincerely trying to make a living off it, but I don't want to and I think looking at it that way misses a major part of what I value about music and creative expression. I don't think most people trying to have some creative outlet or form of expression should necessarily be profiting off of it. I think it's good to normalize making things for the sake of making them and sharing them rather than as a business.

Obviously this doesn't excuse streaming platform and predatory business practices that take money away from those who are trying to make it their business, but I really strongly disagree with putting the blame on other people just trying to make art.
