Trying to “build AGI before China” is like the Indians who helped the British take over India.
They didn’t feel like they were helping a foreign civilization with advanced technology take over. They thought they were being strategic. They wanted to help the British destroy those other Indians. You know, that villainous outgroup. Which the British did! But I’ll give you one guess as to what happened afterwards.
This is the same logic with AGI.
Fun fact about this meme: it was originally about how some of the Native American nations helped the Conquistadores defeat the Aztecs.
But then, because I wanted to make sure my memes were accurate, I checked to make sure the Conquistadores did actually betray them - and they didn't! They actually were allies for centuries. They even helped the Spanish take over the Phillippines.
Anyways, the British totally did turn on the Marathas after, so there you go - a historically accurate meme.
