As I working on this, I thought about the role of moderators in online communities such as this one. Considering all the insanity I've been going through in the other fandom I've been writing for, I've come to the solid conclusion that the LoTR fandoms, especially many of the RPS sites, have the BEST moderators. They know how to moderate without the site turning into their personal fiefdom. Also, I think the ages of those who participate is a HUGE factor--there's nothing worse than a site full of stupid high school fangirls who don't even follow basic internet net-iquette.
I would say posting this on the ff.de site might do more harm than good (and you know I seldom back down from a fight). The bottom line is people like the ones you're dealing with simply don't have a clue. I think it's less about their trying to make sure they stay under the radar and more about being timid. Not to mention they probably hate you for being so erudite about your point of view rather than going off on a mad rant.
Then again sweetie, these days many forums and communities of this type are being attacked--mostly implicitly at this point. Someone's figured out that "gee, here's a bunch of horny women writing about m/m sex and graphically too. We've got to put them in their place!" Everyone's nervous now about the kids (especially girls) reading this stuff and "getting ideas".
