well, yesterday I signed my life away again. I re-enlisted for 4 years which will give me two more years past my original contract. So now I am looking at getting out in 2011 instead of 2009.
I decided to sign up for stabilization at Ft Hood for 12 months instead of going to Korea, then back to Hood a year later. I figured why the hell not. I don't feel like dealing with being away from my friends and family for another year only to get back in time to go back to Iraq. So this way I stick around unitl the next deployment which supposedly in 2009 sometime.
Some added bonuses I get with these few extra years; an extra $8k in my pocket and airborne school. sweetness. I have always wanted to do that so here is my chance.
Goings on over here; We are just about all packed up. The only thing left is a few last min things. The first of our acft leave next week to get the hell outta here along with our advance party. In two weeks my company gets kicked out of the cushy trailers we live in to make room for the incoming unit, which is slowly starting to trickle in. we will be staying in surge housing on the far end of post until we leave which will mean no internet in my bunk until I get home. meh, small price to pay to get the hell out of here. We are still looking at getting home by mid Dec. No dates yet, but I pretty much know when. Will keep you posted when I know more.
