a break from the norm

If I hadn't been sick, this would have been a run-of-the-mill 12 of 12. However, I was in the thick of this weird chest-throat-head-cold thing (from which I'm still recovering), and whatever it is woke me up at 3:30 on January 12th and wouldn't let me go back to sleep. And this was after I'd already taken a sick day on Monday. So, instead, I shifted my 12th around and drove up to my office to grab stuff to do, then came back home to settle in on the couch and work from there.

And while I'm back at work today, apparently I still sound gross enough that people are chiding me for being here even though I feel much better! Whatevah.

6:26 a.m. The emptiest I've ever seen a Coffee Bean. I may have been the first person to order all day.

6:53 a.m. Hey, lookit that! A sunrise! I stopped by CVS in Van Nuys on my way to work to see if they had Drixoral. They did not.

8:01 a.m. After an hour of checking urgent email and forwarding documents to myself, I found myself face-to-face with a screen I don't normally see until 6 or 7 at night.

9:12 a.m. HA. I was really just going for a picture of her car as she drove off to go to work. But she got out at the exact right moment to ask where the hell I had been.

10 a.m. Working on very important things while watching "West Side Story."

12:18 p.m. Pink highlighter is part of my fact-checking process.

1:19 p.m. The sicko herself.

2:38 p.m. Afternoon tea in a crackle mug.

3:57 p.m. I accidentally gave myself the most painful paper cut.

4:22 p.m. At the moment I took this picture, this very event was happening in my office, most likely being loud right outside my door. But I was not there to hear it!

7:47 p.m. Prepping to make myself a grilled cheese sandwich. (So much better on sourdough, you guys.)

8:58 p.m. I don't really even know what this guy was talking about, but he had the BEST accent.
