Welcome! This journal is unlocked, used to be mostly Harry Potter fic and art, and now it's mostly BBC Sherlock fic and art. The full list of my work can be found here.

And in an attempt to be more social on the internet, here is a little bit about myself. )

Hah! There are two 80's nights in Portland that I know of, and one is just 80's music and mostly seems to be folks from the suburbs. The other one started out as specifically playing New Wave but branches out a lot--I've heard everything from Paint It, Black by the Rolling Stones to plenty of newer stuff like MGMT and Justin Timberlake and Franz Ferdinand. Depending on the night it's about half or more 80's stuff, and he takes requests. And I've been going off and on for almost a decade, which is really really strange....I mean, I tried going to a 90's night recently, and it was awful, but I think that was mostly the deejay's fault. I mean, some of the stuff I ask for at the place I like is actually 90's, like Groove is in the Heart by DeeLite and Boys and Girls by Blur and he always plays Common People by Pulp.

I love Portland but I'm biased. I've lived in the metro area since 1995 (when I was a junior in high school) and in SE Portland specifically since 2006. For a few years, there was a ridiculously huge migration of people into Portland, but apparently word got out about our abysmal job market and so it's finally slowed down, and I even know of a handful of people who have left--usually to places that are somewhat similar, like Minneapolis.

ANYWAY. Woo for more LJ friends. I know supposedly LJ is becoming a ghost town, but I've been on a friending spree of people in fandom, so for me it seems pretty hopping. I'll probably be here until the bitter end.

That playlist sounds flawless. Gotta love a good dance party.

I've heard good things about Portland, but I have an undying love affair with NYC, so I don't see moving any time soon. :) I think after living here, everywhere else would feel so tiny in comparison. Although nothing in New York can compete with Powell's, so I'll give you that!

And you know what, I've never been super active in fandom, so I think the pace on LJ now is really nice. Before I used to find it a bit overwhelming. Yay friends. :)
