My roommate this quarter's driving me NUTS!!!

Just as background, rather than a complaint, she's from Nigeria, and even though there are two all-freshman houses on campus, she, a freshman, is rooming with me, a senior. Apparently you can get away with that if the freshman in question's considered a "Non-Traditional" student, in this case because she's 22, almost two years younger than me.

(My birthday's in less than a month. I'm gonna be 24. Work with me, people!)

Now, I consider myself a reasonably tollerant person. I have a friend who is also Nigerian on campus; I'd room with her, but she lives in a different dorm. I'm not a racist, or whatever, and my complaint has nothing to do with her cultural background, to my knowledge. But this girl is getting on my last damn nerve!

Okay, I get that she has friends she made over orientation and since then, but they have this irksome habbit of calling at all hours to the point that I no longer bother to get up and check whose line's getting a call. And, on the rare occaisions when she IS in the room and the phone rings, she speaks with an incredibly loud voice, and goes even louder when she laughs. Even at night when I'm IN BED and trying to freakin' SLEEP!!!

And then, she has this disturbing obsession with "Exams," asking me something like twice a week if we're having "Exams" the following week, and I have to repeatedly inform her that, no, Mid-Terms aren't until fifth or sixth week, aka The Middle of the Term. In any case, on the nights she gets twitchy about such things, she insists on trying to stay up as late as possible to study--personally, I think she's merely over-reacting to one of her classes having a test or quiz--to the point that around 12:30-ish she's babbling to me about how tired she is, and could I wake her at 1 or, more recently--as in last night--2, so she can get in a quick nap. I have my first class at 8 in the morning, and as such I get up at 7. I'm sleep-deprived as it is; I don't need to be her personal wake-up service. Plus, last night when I informed her it was 2, she just shifted her desk lamp--which she'd left on, power waster--to point at her bed, grabed her text book, and declared she'd do her studying from there. So I woke up briefly around 4 or 5 and finally told her to turn the stupid lamp off, though not in those words.

Furthermore, she owns an alarm clock. She uses the alarm clock. Unfortunately, it doesn't really wake her up, so I have to tell her to turn it off, but then she goes back to sleep and then gets up when MY alarm clock goes off half an hour later. WHAT THE HELL?!

What this all boils down to is that I'm getting closer and closer to snapping and yelling my head off. I'd really like some advice for the avoiding of this, as I don't want to be seen as the stereotypical Evil and Bitchy Roomie. Particularly when I have every reason to be so...
