Stupid overbooked weekends.
A couple months back, I made plans to go out to Virginia over Labor Day weekend for a surprise baby shower for my sister in law. I don't get back to see my family nearly often enough, but I was pretty sorry to miss the Knights Errant visit to Santa Cruz, and Count H's family Pit-n-Spit, and

I'm assuming that since you said no-one is Catholic that it doesn't really matter -- although since I believe there's some German people in your family tree, there might be some Lutherans (and there's really no difference between Catholics and Lutherans, anymore (see here: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/chrstuni/documents/rc_pc_chrstuni_doc_31101999_cath-luth-joint-declaration_en.html ))
For Catholics -- the difference between 'Christening' and 'Baptism' is ... Nothing. One ("Christening") is a colloquialism for the other ("Baptism"). Doesn't matter who says or does what in terms of 'making vows'.
The 'official' term (in English) is Baptism. 'Christening' doesn't have a 'real' definition, which is why you can 'Christen' a ship (with a bottle of Dom Perignon), and no-one thinks much of it or gets offended.
'Baptism' is one of the seven sacraments in the Roman rite, and is the only one that can be administered/performed/given by anyone -- including Atheists or other non-believers. Certain forms must be followed, but they can be picked-up in about 30 seconds.
I teach a unit on this to the kids at St. Lucy's in Campbell in February or March. Yippie.
And I really miss Wegmans. I wonder if my Wegmans' Shopping Club Card is still valid.
