My reading habits are not limited to specific genres. If I think something looks interesting, then I'll usually read it. This has led me to some amazing books.
Horror novels can be kind of tricky. Some of them I've enjoyed deeply. Others made me wish I'd never picked them up and opened the covers.
Horror novels that build suspense and instill a creeping sense of fear through ordinary circumstances that people would ordinarily brush off as coincidental are the ones that I enjoy most. It takes skill to turn something innocuous into a source of dread and Lindqvist does that magnificently with a very narrow, almost entirely claustrophobic setting.
The book itself is a bit strange, but it's written so hauntingly that it makes a reader want to keep reading. My in-depth review is posted at:
