Sunday Scribblings post-Prompt "Full of"

There's a lump shaped exactly like him occupying the exact middle of our bed. He's sprawled face down so he takes up as much space as possible. It's rare that I wake up earlier than he does. Usually, I'm awake later at night and get up later in the morning than he does.

His head is turned to the side, his hair spread out over the pillow. When he's lying down, it's so much easier to lose track of the scale of him. He's just there, peacefully warming the blankets. I know he's feeling fine, because he's lying that way. If he was sick, he'd be on his back snoring with his mouth open. I watch him for a little while, just soaking in the rare pleasure of being able to see him like this.

Then, I look at the clock. We have plans this weekend. I'd just let him sleep if we didn't, or if I suspected mitigating circumstances. I was prety sure, though, that this was just a case of warm blankets and cool morning air making him lazy. Quietly, I approach the bed.

He doesn't even notice when I get on the bed. I lean down and squash him a little bit, before I kiss him right on the back of the ear. He sighs out a soft grunt and squirms.

“Time to get up, Sweetheart, I love you. We gotta get going.”

“You're full of piss and vinegar this morning,” he answers.

“Yup,” I reply, “don't get up, I going to have to start tickling you.”

“Unhhh!”

He knows I mean it, so he makes himself get up and shambles to the bathroom to start his morning routine.
