Sunday Scribblings Post-Prompt "Less"

Less
It's a beautiful summer day, clear and sunny, without a cloud in sight. Even more remarkable is how cool it is outside. Temperatures have been scorchingly hot all week and air-conditioning can only do so much to alleviate that.
We could go waste the day running around doing errands. We could try to go out to the lake, which is going to be crowded with too many people. We could go get food from somewhere.
Instead he sets up a couple of lawn chairs out on our deck and starts a citronella candle burning. The radio is set up and tuned to a classic rock station. When I come out to see what he's doing, I discover the book that I'm currently reading sitting on my chair. He's got his sketchbook and pencils out and his feet propped on the railing so he can rest the book against his legs.
For the rest of the day, we only get up to get drinks or food. Lunch is just some sandwiches, veggies, and cut fruit. Dinner is much the same. Even though we weren't conventionally productive, we're happy and content. We both agree that our day of doing less was very, very good for our souls.
