Las Vegas BABY!

Dec 11, 2007 12:48

Ok - I know this post is WAY long overdue but December was just CRAZY busy and I haven't had the gumption to finally get around to posting this. So, now... here at 3 am on Monday Feb 5th, I'm finally getting around to it!!!

These scenes are from Shrek the Halls... Great movie!!!

I want to post about my trip to LV but I have to get all the vids together and edited and figure out someplace to upload them so I can share.

Enjoy the icons - just don't change the names please!!!

Karie =)
- who totally needs reprogramming because everytime she hears the phrase "Get ready" - she busts into the "Big Comfy Couch" song!!!

I went to Las Vegas to visit Trish and her family. I hadn't met Ailee and I hadn't seen Conner in forever... and of course I missed seeing Trish - so off I went to LV to see them! I planned on a week long trip to really get the whole experience - lol. Boy did I ever! LOL! Conner and Ailee are so awesome - I wanted to steal them by the time I left... and I think Trish is about ready to ship them off, expecting number 3 as she is right now =D

I brought some gifts for them - a fairy princess wand, tinker bell purse, and coloring books for Ailee... and a Power Ranger punching bag, some (way too big) shirts, and coloring books for Conner. They were excited because they got Christmas presents BEFORE Christmas!!! One afternoon, I was laying on the couch and Conner had an empty bag from those fruit snacks they eat. So we were playing a game where I would hide it in the blanket I was laying under and he'd find it. Well he was getting smart about it, so I hid the bag in my pocket. He reaches in to get it and, instead of a snack bag, pulls out a $20.00 bill. I said, wow, that's a great trick there - think you can get me a $50? LOL. So with that, I taught him a "magic" trick where he would put two items in his pocket or a purse or anything else, say abracadabra, and voila - it would change into something else. Of course, the best way to do magic is with a fairy princess wand - since everyone knows that "abracadabra" doesn't work with just any old thing. Pretty soon, Conner was "abracadabra'ing" everything. The poor fairy princess wand fell apart!!!

While I was there, I also taught Conner - "Give me a high five, up high, down low... too slow". He thought that was hilarious! He especially thought it was great when we caught him and HE was too slow. It's a great ice-breaker and I had hoped it would help him when he was shy with people to help him be a little more assertive - to be able to show off something fun.

Conner also loves to sing... so I took some videos:

Santa "Cwaus" is Coming To Town:

Pirates.... We "like-a" you too, Conner!

Itsy Bitsy Spider

Christmas Tree... I'm not really sure where he got this song... but it must have been something he learned because he did it a couple of times... I love the ending... YEAH!

This one needs some esplainin'... Trish's mom taught the kids a song for Thanksgiving: "Gobble, gobble, gobble... fat turkeys, fat turkeys... gobble, gobble, gobble... fat turkeys are we... we're not here for living, we're for thanksgiving... gobble, gobble, gobble... fat turkeys are we." I really like Conner's version of it (fat turkeys are weak...) The reason he's bobbing his head is because he has Bam Bam's antlers with the bell on... they didn't fit the normal way, so they're hooked around his ears.

Big Comfy Couch (or... the reason I needed reprogramming after coming home from the Sheehan house). LOL! Big Comfy Couch is a kids program on PBS. Ailee LOVES this show. And they would sing the theme song all the time, and it’s actually quite catching… Get ready, get ready, get ready to clown around… a mute and Molly, a clown and her dolly, on a big… comfy… couch. Yeah! I even got my MOM singing this when I was home at their house… that’s how addicting that show is. I think it’s all a conspiracy, myself.

Twinkle Twinkle… Conner got quite animated with this one:

I also got to go to a couple of Conner’s athletic events. There was Karate (or “Kawate” as it’s now known). The last day is kind of a free-for-all… so there wasn’t much “kawate” going on - but they sure seemed like they were having a ton of fun!

This is Ailee’s future husband:

And T-ball. T-ball was quite fascinating. There’s only 3 innings, the kids all have these huge helmets that make them almost top heavy (watch Conner as he’s rounding the bases), and Hippie - the bravest man in the universe - approaching a 4 year old that has a bat in his hand that just happens to be at mid-body level. The bases are loaded and one of the kids gets to hit a “home-run” - well, Conner was the hit man the day I was there - you can see his victory lap here (by the way, the shaking of the camera is me shivering… it was about 40 with a wind chill of… what… 15 degress? Well, at least it felt that way!)

Us freezing our butts off at T-ball:

He’s got nice form in his throwing:

The kids also got to go bowling as their “end of the t-ball season” party. It was sort of midnight madness type bowling with the lights and the music. It’s been a looooong time since I was bowling so that was very interesting as well! You enter the names of the bowlers, you call up to the front desk and tell them you need bumpers on players 1,2, and 4. And voila - when that player’s turn comes up - the bumpers automatically rise up out of the floor and are there. I remember the days when the attendants would have to drag these nasty tubey like bumpers out of the storage closet and lay them out for the kids. Such are the times now:

Waiting for the ball:

Being goofy:

After all was said and done, the kids are really great friends. Here they are in the backyard playing motorbikes. Sound effects compliments of Ailee:

Lookin’ cool, Conner!

Getting presents!!!

Bestest buddies:

Beautiful Ailee:

Trish and I went to the MGM Grand and saw the Cirque du Soleil show, Ka. Wow - that was AWESOME! On the way in, we got to see the lion exhibit they have there:

Cool, huh?

By the time I left - I was tired, yes. But I had SO much fun with the kids (oh yeah, Trish was there too - lol!) but I can’t wait to have some of my own. Of course, I think I’ll send them to Trish camp for some training… but I can’t wait to hang out with them again. Disney would be SO much fun… when I went to Disney (of course, that’s after this post) and saw the Power Rangers I just sat there thinking - gosh I wish Conner was here!!! Soon enough I guess!!!
