In the Land Downunder

Well I'm in Cairns, Australia. After 27 hours of travel I made it safe and sound with all my luggage. I met two girls on the plain from Denver to LA who were going to the same australearn orientation, I made friends with one, and the other one annoys me. I forgot that stupidity annoys me. It feels like I'm a freshmen again, going through all the meet and greet crap, orientations, and talking to people who stick out like sore thumbs. There are a few very typical americans, who are obnoxious and seem to be wearing a sign pointing them out as americans or tourists, sometimes both. I'm fairly certain I'm not one of these people though, which makes me happy.

The whole orientation process just reminds me that I do have a tendency to be harsh to some people. I enjoy intelligent conversation, and if I don't get that from someone, I tend to by a little snide. I need to work on this I think. Perhaps this trait was brought out in me also because I've had to repeat the same "hi, my name is____, I go to school____, I study ____, this semester I'm studying at _____." Very tedious. Plus you hear it from about 30 other people, and that too gets all blended together.

I realize that I just complained a lot, but I'm still having a great time. It's warm and sunny and humid, I'm happy I'm get my tan back. Today we're going to the Zoo, and doing all sorts of fun stuff. Which I'll be late for if I don't hurry up and finish this update. So yeah, Australia is Awesome!
