MIT

So yeah, I had an interview for MIT today. My interviewer was the head of some division at the National High Magnetic Fields Lab, so I was worried I'd be intimidated. The interview was scheduled for 3:30, so I left school around 3:00, and after realizing that it would only take me about 10 minutes to get there, I stopped by Taco Bell to get a snack on the way. I get to the mag lab around 3:15, and I decide that since I'm a bit early, I would listen to some music and sip on water in my car for 10 or so minutes.
So I'm sitting in my car, listening to music and sipping on water when I notice this man in my mirror who seems to be conspicuously standing outside my car APPARENTLY looking at the car next to me, although it was really obvious that he was looking at my car. I realized then that I looked pretty suspicious, having driven up to a national laboratory and just stayed in my car. I got out quickly and just decided to go on in.
I go up to the receptionist and tell her that I'm there to see my interviewer. She calls him up, and can't find him. She calls other people up, still can't find him. Eventually she tells me just to go back there, and gives me directions to his office.
Boy, that went well. Her directions were "all the way back and near the break room, his name is on the door." Well, I go back torward the direction she pointed, and realized it ended very quickly, so I took the "obvious" hallway and followed it a bit, but found no break room. I ended up stopping a guy in the hallway and asking him were my interviewer's office was, and he said "Well, he's standing right over there!"
I walk up to the guy, and since he's talking to someone else, I just stand there waiting. Someone said something along the lines of "I think there's someone waiting for you in the reception area" and I pointed out that actually, I was already here. And then we proceded to talk for about an hour and a half. It wasn't perfect, but it went a lot better than I expected. Made me feel a lot more confident than talking to my guidence councellor, who was like "Oh you're going to have to do a lot of explaining if you think you can make it into MIT."

Oh well, we'll see how it'll go.
