"Sometimes people leave you...half-way through the wood"

My Grandpa died Saturday night. He hadn't been doing well the past few weeks, so his passing wasn't a huge surprise to anyone. In fact, Mom and Grandma were planning the next day to talk to him about having to go into the nursing home because Grandma couldn't take care of him anymore. He would have been miserable there, so he's certainly better off. I did pretty well emotionally until today when it really hit me just how much I'm going to miss him. As cantankerous and messy and snappy as he was, he was without a doubt my favorite Grandpa (and my 2nd favorite grandparent). It's from him I learned to love history and the study of religion and he taught me how the game of football worked. He touched the lives of so many people through his work with St. Vincent dePaul.

My Grandpa, John Thomas Snyder, June 26, 1924-May 16, 2009 he was loved deeply and will be missed terribly. I love you.
