Relocating to Paris

Nov 12, 2006 17:59

Well, that's the dream. I had a fabulous three days in Paris and fell in love with the place all over again. It was my fifth visit. Somehow experiencing it alone I was more enchanted than when with others on previous occasions. Admittedly, I was not particularly comfortable the first day and a half of my visit. My french was shamefully weak - I studied french at university and I had forgotten so much. I was also concerned for my safety and my belongings. If anything was to happen, I'd be left to deal with it myself. However, a day and a half into the visit, I was more self-assured and felt very relaxed wandering around.

I did so much in Paris. On Wed night, I couldn't sleep for the first hour because my feet were throbbing like they each had migraines. Here's just some of the things I got up to over the three days:

- the catacombs
- the champs-elysees
- arc de triomphe
- musee d'orsay
- place de la concorde
- la coupole (cafe where Sartre hung out with other intellectuals)
- louvre
- salvador dali gallery
- galeries lafyettes
- cinema
- notre dame
- sainte chapelle
- ile de la cite
- sacre coeuer
- les deux magots (cafe which ernest hemingway frequented)
- la memoriale des martyrs et la deportation
- palais de justice
- and lots and lots of wandering round quaint little streets and cafes

I took the occasional photograph and will try have these uploaded soon.

So like I say, I want to relocate to Paris but first need to find a reason for taking me there. Perhaps could look at doing something academic - a comparative study of civil law and legal practice.
