Had my appointment in Duluth today - boy, it's nice to be taken seriously!
Fact of the whole matter is, it may not be a thyroid problem.
BUT.
There's definitely something funky going on. May be in the pituitary - we're going to run the gambit of tests over time (between some done today, and likely more in 3 weeks when I go back) to figure it out.
Basically what he said was "I can't directly feel or see any problem with your thyroid. But your T3 is very low, your T4 is borderline low... and those with a normal TSH? That's concerning. I don't like it."
So we're going to work on figuring out what's wrong with me.
There's something wrong with me! (I knew it!)
I like the guy. He's thorough. I don't think I've ever had my reflexes tested before... that was neat. I *know* I've never been asked to drink water with somebody's hands around my throat. (Thyroid straddles the esophagus - to see if it's swollen, see if you can swallow - sort of thing.) He looked at my hands, feet, skin in general...
He also asked a lot of questions that I didn't really have good answers for... like "Have you noticed needing to shave less frequently?" I had to laugh. Then as my explanation for laughing, I told him that back in November I had shaved for the first time in 2 years.
"... ... ...Oh..."
Yeah, (I continued...) I don't care enough about it to spend time shaving that I could spend doing more important things. Like sleeping.
Three little tubes of blood were sucked out of my arm, and I scheduled an appointment for noonish on Friday the 27th.
All in all though, the appointment went very well. As did lunch at Famous Dave's. And the cup of cocoa (for me - espresso for Ryan) at the Red Mug with Johnny when we rolled into town(ish) an hour ahead of schedule. We also finally went to Barnes & Noble to spend our stocking stuffers. Ryan picked up a book on "Hiking Minnesota" and I grabbed "Teach yourself Sock Knitting." He got some flocking & scale rocks for his miniatures at the modeling shop, a new noodle cup at Younkers (where I also grabbed a much needed new wallet).
I'm still in the market for a new general practitioner doctor &/or clinic. I'm contemplating going over to Deer River - it may be 20 miles out... but it's related to the Duluth Clinic... and I like them.
Umm.
Working on getting the last of my fabrics rinsed & ironed out so that I'm all ready to hit the retreat and start cutting/stitching. Also have to fold the last of the laundry before I can go to bed. Which I need to do soon.
It's tired out.
