Well that was neat!

We just went over and watched a round or so of the 70-m target jumping competition over at the ski jump (we can see it from the yard). Actually got off our duffs, dressed up warm (it's -1° F now) and drove over there to stand at the base of the hill. Neat stuff. There's more tomorrow, which we may go check out too. The addition of the sun plus the fact that it's supposed to be warmer will likely make it much more pleasant watching.

I'm currently wondering if their regular downhill runs will be open while jumping is going on - still kind of wanting to see if I have the guts to downhill ski. (May be going XC skiing on Monday, if I get a call.)

Went and looked at a house this morning. Mostly just for shits and giggles, as we're not *quite* in a position to buy yet, but we can at least get our feet wet, right? This is the place we checked out today. It was really neat, but needs a lot of work. (To look good, not to be habitable.) We both got the impression that it's what any house will look like after we've been in it for over 30 years (like the current resident). There's craft stuff all over (railroad & glass beads), books on every wall... We were amused. There's a ton of great space, too - especially the high-peaked ceiling half of the attic! I could almost picture a big ol' long arm sewing machine up there. :)

The realtor lady kept apologizing for all the 'clutter' - we just grinned.

In less happy and amusing news, I'm still really pissed at the medical profession. With the exception of one very helpful meds prescriber. I went in to get a second opinion and hopefully a referral to a specialist yesterday morning. I was put down, degraded, and refused again. (The guy actually said to me - "What makes you think it's your thyroid? What if it's just depression? What if it's just you?") Barb said she's going to send a letter over recommending they refer me to a specialist. Apparently nothing I say is going to get me anywhere. ("How many doctors have to tell you the same thing before you believe that it's not your thyroid?" A SPECIALIST HAS TO TELL ME. After running the full gamut of tests. After actually looking at all the factors. After maybe even *gasp* checking my metabolism!

Grr.

So yesterday sucked. I didn't get in to work until 1 PM. (My appointment had been at 8:20 AM)

But today has been better. And the weekend looks to continue improving.

I made really yummy potato soup for supper - used fingerling potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, ham (from sometime last year - it's been in the freezer), water chestnuts, lots of fresh dill and a pint of half & half to make it creamy. The only other seasoning was a bit of salt & pepper. I had mine over some leftover corn bread from the other day when we had chili - the sweetness of the cornbread plus the creamy dillness was really tasty. I may add a dab of honey or maple syrup to my bowls after the cornbread is gone.

I like winter.
