I didn't think of the starling and the daughter in those terms- the need to create- but now that I've read your blog I see it. Good insight!

Although eveerything I read has no reference to abuse by her father I wonder if it is anger that her father died when she was 10 that reflects her hatred that she seems to feel towards him. I read that when her father was dying she lied under his bed - I can't imagine how sad she must have felt.
