Kammon's secret log

I spent the day yesterday at the city library, looking into public records.  Didn't find any mention of the Tavern Lines in the business registry or any documents that match the mercenary jobs we've been involved with, though I'm not terribly surprised.  Miss Ivygrove has always been rather quiet about the group, stands to reason that she wouldn't have it registered.  Still, I had to check.  No point in not being thorough if you've the opportunity, right?

Of course, I've a few other ideas for finding out how much the organization is actually collecting from these contracts -  I've set up a meeting with the client contact listed on the contract for the highlands job.  I had to come up with some rather inane questions about the task as a pretense, but it worked.  Seems the contact is another Gilnean - a woman serving as a go-between, as the client wishes to remain nameless, naturally.  I'm sure I'll be able to work our common history into an advantage - turn on the charm, a few clever jokes and a compliment here and there, and I'll hopefully get her off her guard enough to talk about the amount of payment, so I can compare it to the amount Nils is offering us for the job.

Hmm.  If I'm really charming, I might even be able to get her to up the amount, whatever it actually is.  Worth a shot, anyway.  I wonder if I can get in touch with Essenberg about another bottle of Gilnean brandy beforehand.

kammon, success through schmoozing, tavern lines, nils
