I have been having major difficulty in getting my videos uploaded from trip to websites. Apparently my laptop does not like the format that my digital camera records them in so i had to transfer them to our desktop and then they wouldn't work on the sites i uploaded them to... The point is that it's been a pain in the ass but at least i've finally gotten it all sorted out.
These videos are from the Central Serengeti leg of our trip.
Before the elephant met the giraffes he crossed the road.
Then he met some giraffes (aka the moment that made us cry)
After the elephant and giraffes we saw zebras rolling around in the dirt in order to cool themselves off. You'll hear my sister make a comment about it being an apre defecation celebration. This is a reference to our dog Murphy who used to do the same thing the zebra is doing whenever we'd walk him.
Then we saw hundreds of migrating zebras crossing the road to get a drink from the river. I love this clip because you can hear the noises they make.
Migrating zebras getting a drink And, finally, the lion that was a mere 20 feet from our truck. For some reason it comes out grainier on the website than it does on my computer but I think youtube lets you view it in high quality if you go to the site. I hope it captures just how freaking cool it was (and scary) to have a lion so close to the car.

For a reminder of the stories behind the videos go to the
Central Serengeti blog DISCLAIMER: The shakey camera work is due to me being attacked by tse tse flies while i was filming. If you've never been bitten by a tse tse fly it hurts like a mother because they really chomp on you to get your blood out. In fact, it hurts so much you'll do anything to keep them from biting you including screwing up your video recording.
In the remaining blogs there will be videos and hopefully I will finally be able to wrap up my Africa Trog this weekend. Thanks for the patience for those of you who are still reading.
